Isang ordinaryong araw ang tuluyang nagbago nang daan-daang tao ang misteryosong mahila papasok sa isang napakasikat na online game. Akala nila ay isa lamang itong virtual na mundo, ngunit agad nilang natuklasan ang nakakatakot na katotohanan-wala nang Log Out, at ang kamatayan sa loob ng laro ay nangangahulugan ng tunay na kamatayan sa realidad.
Upang makabalik sa totoong mundo, kailangan nilang tapusin ang lahat ng yugto ng laro. Ngunit hindi lamang mga halimaw at makapangyarihang boss ang kalaban nila. Ang pinakamapanganib na nilalang ay kapwa nila mga manlalaro na handang pumatay para maagaw ang mahahalagang Cards, Artifacts, at mga pambihirang Items na nagbibigay ng kakaibang kapangyarihan. Sa mundong ito, walang permanente ang pagkakaibigan, at bawat desisyon ay maaaring maging dahilan ng iyong huling paghinga.
Habang lumalakas ang mga manlalaro at nabubunyag ang mga lihim ng laro, unti-unti nilang natutuklasan na may mas madilim na katotohanan sa likod ng virtual na mundong kanilang kinalalagyan. Sino ang lumikha ng nakamamatay na larong ito? Bakit sila ang napili? At ano ang tunay na gantimpala para sa sinumang makakatapos nito?
Sa isang laban kung saan ang tiwala ay maaaring maging kahinaan at ang bawat card ay maaaring magbago ng kapalaran, tanging ang may lakas, talino, at matatag na kalooban lamang ang may pag-asang makabalik sa tunay na mundo... kung may mundo pa ngang babalikan.
