You can't rent an apartment because everyone thinks you're a child. You need adult-looking vampires to pretend to be your parents just to see an R-rated movie. Every few decades, you fake your identity and start elementary school all over again, smiling politely while your history teacher explains events you personally witnessed.

Thankfully, there's a support group.

A secret community for vampires who were turned as children or teenagers, where the members are centuries old, dress like grandmas because that's how old they feel, and help each other survive a world that refuses to believe they're adults.

For Elias, who has looked eleven since the seventeenth century, life gets a little easier thanks to his "guardian"-a vampire who looks thirty but is actually younger than he is. To everyone else, they're parent and child.

In reality, they're two cranky elderly roommates who argue over chores, complain about modern life, and occasionally have to fool teachers, cashiers, and government officials into believing they're a perfectly normal family.
