The air in the dimly lit chamber hung thick and heavy with unsaid promises.
His fingertips, rough from a life lived in the shadows, traced a slow, agonizing path down the curve of her spine, sending a shiver through her entire frame. He paused at her lower back before slipping lower, coaxing a desperate, shuddering breath from her lips. Her breath hitched, raw and unsteady.
"Wet for me, my moon?" he whispered, his voice a low, gravelly rasp against her ear.
He pulled back slowly, a low click of his tongue echoing softly between them. "Tch, tch... what a shame."
Holding his hand up between them, he showed her his glistening fingers. Sticky. Shining beneath the faint silver of the moonlight.
"Look at you," he murmured, his thumb catching a stray bead of moisture. "A royal princess, letting a scoundrel... a street rat, a commoner, a thief like me bring her undone."
She opened her eyes, dark and teary, trembling on the fragile precipice between shame and pure, unadulterated desire.
