A mage who broke the equation

Daniel Hayes just wanted to survive high school. Instead, he woke up on a different Earth entirely - one where magic decides who you are, and his first taste of it tells everyone exactly one thing: he's weak.

Water is the most common element there is. Slow. Unglamorous. A rounding error next to Fire, next to Lightning, next to the golden-boy rival who beats him without trying. Everyone at Ashcroft Academy has already decided what kind of mage Daniel Hayes is going to be - everyone except Daniel, who's spent his whole life refusing to accept an answer just because he's been told it's the only one.

When his magic starts doing something no textbook can explain - turning to steam before it should even be hot - Daniel stops asking how to get better and starts asking what nobody else has bothered to ask: *what if the problem was never how weak Water is, but how little anyone's actually understood it?*

The answer he finds is bigger, stranger, and far more dangerous than a classroom technique. It will cost him a relationship, hand him a second, forbidden magic he has to hide from everyone he loves, and drag him into a secret double life funding an education his own school refuses to give him.

And somewhere beneath the city, something far older than Daniel's secret has been waiting to wake up too.

*The Mage Who Broke the Equation* is a progression fantasy about the kid nobody expected anything from - and what happens when he decides "weak" was just a hypothesis nobody had properly tested yet.
