Steve smiled sadly, knowing the same feeling all too well. He held out his warm hand to Genevieve, and met her dark eyes. For the first time, neither of them looked at the other with anger or doubt or resentment. They held their gaze, silently exchanging years of loneliness. Genevieve slipped her hand into Steve's, the two slotting like long-missing pieces of a puzzle.

It had taken almost a hundred years, but finally, Genny belonged somewhere.
