Killing Eve - Eventually

My fan-fiction interpretation of how the story should've steered. Additionally, written in a perspective of a woman who can understand the complexity of wlw culture and what was derived so well from the show.

Scene

Eve is at worst devastated at the absence and death of Villanelle. Lost and broken, she finds herself crumbling into the background of life in London. With no sense of life or direction. She can't help the sickening feeling of who shot Villanelle. Did the twelve have outside security protection, observing and intruders and threats on the ferry from afar. And if so, it was all for nothing. Villanelle's death was all for nothing. Thinking they completed the impossible and eradicated the twelve from this earth. Stopped the endless cycle of replacing them with others to fill the spot. They had them. All in one place, at one time, to annihilate all remaining members of every re-creating this society.
The mourning and hopelessness feeling is eating Eve alive as she continues to believe there were a tether to the twelve still lingering out there in the world, the ones who shot and killed Villanelle. As Eve is falling apart and emotionless, Carolyn Martins observes Eve from a healthy distance. Monitoring her state, that she doesn't become too lucid again and start questioning things. She wants her to stay in the state of belief, as she makes herself comfortable back into MI6 with her never-empty-handed return. She delivered the assassin from the twelves and eliminated the target to pave her return back to her country. Carolyn Martins is banking on keeping Eve away from everything in hopes Eve doesn't wake up and ignite that self preserving, relentless determination that got her entangled into Villanelle and the twelves web. Her determination was on par with everything she had theories about were true. And if she began to question things again and investigating, Carolyn's not so sure her position back at MI6 will be secure.
