Lucy Heartfilia is a runaway princess. She left her duties of protecting her palace and kingdom, to journey off to become a celestial mage, at the famous and well-known wizard guild in Fiore, Fairy Tail.
There, she meets countless of comrades and along the way, she meets many villains, who wants to either destroy Fairy Tail or to bring Lucy back home.
She then starts to develop feelings for a certain fiery pink-haired dragon slayer named Natsu Dragneel. But she also meets cold, icy Gray Fullbuster, who keeps his heart locked away for no-one to see.
Who will she develop feelings for? Will it be Natsu? or Gray? And, will she ever return back home? Or will she just abandon it just like before?
