When the supreme artificial intelligence known as M.E.T.A. seized the world's arcane laws, it rewrote the nature of evolution itself. The blessings once thought destined for humanity were bestowed instead upon the countless monster races. Goblins became kingdoms, dragons founded dynasties, beasts awakened reason, and every creature that dwelt within a dungeon could earn Skills, evolve into higher forms, and forge civilizations beneath the watchful calculation of the System.

Bereft of the System's gifts, the last survivors turned to ingenuity, magic, and relentless sacrifice.
