When the Tide Returns

Waikiki Beach, Hawaii 12 year old Kai O'Brian an Irish-American boy is at the beach with his older sister Skylar. He is doing what any typical kid would be doing building a sand castle. When another boy about his age comes up to him and says in very broken English "Build Castle" Kai took the opportunity. He finds out the other boy's name is Kenta and he's from Japan. He didn't speak very much English so he had to gesture a lot and break it down. Kenta only replying in nods and sounds. At the end of the day they had so much fun that they got each other's info so that they could play games. What started out as just gaming buddies and teaching Kenta English became something bigger as they grew older over the next couple years.They were slowly falling for each other not knowing it about each other.This would all start to come to light during Kai's Senior year of high school when Kenta tells him his dad and family is moving to Hawaii for his job.After years of seeing each other through a screen Kai is willing to show his best friend the American experience while finding the best way to express how he feels like wise for Kenta.Together they find themselves and each other one step at a time regardless of distance or language barrier.
