In a utopian city where modern machines and alchemic magic coexist, Ayla Cross is accepted into the University of Ender- a place where Ethereal Energy weighs your worth in gold, and she has an untapped overabundance of it. She aims to graduate and become a Magi: one who is authorized to manipulate ethereal energy. Then, she can finally attempt to save herself. But being a target of weaponization is the least of her concerns; her well of inner strength is an illness that could either snuff her out or give her a life close to immortality.

She wants to live. She wants to want something for herself. She wants meaning but struggles to make meaning. And she meets someone who makes her question it all.

Aren Enderlight is the headmaster's elusive son and, reluctantly, becomes her personally assigned mentor. No one knows about him; presumably hidden from the public's eye until recently, he is the most gifted Magi in the Academy. And she's getting caught up in his layers. Somehow he's tied to this string of unexplained and hushed murders of carnage left by what society is calling "the Devourer". She thinks he wants more from her than success in Ender U. And she's trying to figure out what it is, even if it's something bad.

This story will probably have triggers. I'll disclose them once I figure out what they are. There's definitely going to be some.

Nothing but these words and ideas belong to me. I'm still fleshing out how to write this all out, still trying to piece the in-between stuff in. You might see a lot of updates on things I've already published.

I've been thinking about putting this down for some time, so just fair warning: it's a work in progress. Feel free to tell me to change something, maybe. I'm a little bad at this. Also new to this site and writing in general.
