Tessa Hayes has learned not to get comfortable.

Not in houses. Not in towns. And definitely not with people.

After years of being dragged from place to place by her unreliable father, Raymond, seventeen-year-old Tessa finds herself starting over once again-this time in the painfully ordinary town of Hawkins, Indiana. Her mother walked out when she was young, her father spends more time drinking than acting like a parent, and every promise Tessa has ever been given has eventually been broken.
