The Day I Learned To Be Afraid

One ordinary bus ride changed the way I saw myself.

At thirteen, I learned that being a girl could mean being watched, judged, and afraid.

I stopped wearing sleeveless dresses. I became careful. I became alert.

But years later, I learned something more important-

Fear may have entered my life that day, but it didn't deserve to become my whole life.
