False Pretenses

"Asshole." She huffed, rolling her eyes but unable to hide the flicker of frustration, maybe even a reluctant admiration.

"Princess," he replied, smirking, his voice low and teasing, as if daring her to admit she cared.

She shot him a glare, but her heart betrayed her, pounding a little faster under his gaze.

Megan Jones has spent three years knowing exactly what she thinks of Draco Malfoy.

He's arrogant. He's insufferable. He's cruel. And, above all, he's everything she despises.

He's also her best friend, Faelen Black's estranged cousin. The boy who has spent years making her life miserable.

So when something begins to shift between Megan and Draco in fourth year, she refuses to believe it could possibly mean anything. She knows better than to trust him, and she certainly knows better than to fall for someone who has hurt someone she loves.

Draco, unfortunately, isn't making it easy.

Between arguments that last a little too long, glances that linger a little too much, and feelings neither of them is willing to acknowledge, the line between enemies and something else starts to blur.

Because sometimes, the person who knows exactly how to get under your skin is also the person who knows how to get past every wall you've built.

And Megan Jones would rather admit defeat than admit she might be falling for Draco Malfoy.

She knows she shouldn't like him. She knows she has every reason not to.

Maybe that's exactly what makes it so difficult to stop.
