His gaze lingered on it longer than usual.
Long enough for Janki to notice.
She walked over and stood beside him, studying her son with the knowing eyes only a mother possessed.
"Shiv?"
He turned with an affectionate smile.
"Ji, Maa sa?"
She folded her arms.
"Ek baat poochhun?"
"Poochhiye na."
"Sach bolega?"
His smile widened.
"Hamesha."
Janki narrowed her eyes ever so slightly.
"Pyaar karta hai tu kisi se?"
For the first time that evening, Shivarsh looked almost... shy.
His teeth caught his lower lip as he looked down for a fleeting second.
Then a smile, impossibly soft, spread across his face.
"Pyaar nahi..."
He looked back at her.
"...Prem ho gaya hai humein, Maa sa."
The room fell quieter.
Even Abhishek looked up from the newspaper he had been pretending to read.
Janki raised an eyebrow.
"Kisse?"
Shivarsh didn't answer immediately.
Instead, his eyes wandered back to the moon.
His voice came slowly, wrapped in quiet devotion.
"Narayan ko toh..."
"...Shree se hi hoga na?"
Janki sighed dramatically, rubbing her forehead.
"Bas!"
She pointed a finger at him.
"Teri baatein sunkar kabhi-kabhi pachhtaawa hota hai."
Shivarsh looked at her innocently.
"Kis baat ka?"
"Ki tera naam Shiv kyun rakha."
Abhishek chuckled.
Janki continued,
"Tu Shiv jaisa raudra nahi..."
She smiled despite herself.
"...Narayan jaisa sheetal hai."
Shivarsh's eyes remained fixed on the moon.
"Nahi, Maa sa."
His voice was barely above a whisper.
"Narayan ko sheetal bhi unki Shree hi karti hain."
A smile, gentle and full of longing, curved his lips.
"...aur hum toh bas..."
"...Shree ki yaadon mein hain."
Abhishek finally folded his newspaper.
"Ek baat bata."
"Hmm?"
"Shree naam hai uska?"
A soft chuckle escaped Shivarsh.
He slowly shook his head.
"Maa Lakshmi ke hazaaron naam hain na, Baba?"
His gaze never left the moon.
"Sirf isliye ki woh apne Narayan ke liye Shree hain..."
"...iska matlab yeh thodi na hai ki unka naam bhi Shree hi ho."
