What Listened Before

Long before Celia Ward became the last Vessel, long before Elias Thorne heard the Murmur, others had already listened.

A journal recovered from Galeshade records one man's gradual descent into something he could neither name nor understand. Elsewhere, scattered accounts speak of soldiers who encountered impossible figures, monasteries that vanished without explanation, voices heard where no voice should exist, and witnesses whose memories could no longer be trusted.

Across these fragments, certain patterns begin to emerge.

A spiral appears where no spiral was drawn. Names are forgotten. Memories change. The same presence is described in forms that should not belong to the same thing.

And beneath these accounts lies an older mythology.

Fragments speak of a presence that existed before names, before boundaries, perhaps before the cosmos itself had taken recognizable form. Some called it a god. Some called it a murmur. Others could give it no name at all.

The accounts contradict one another.

Their origins are uncertain.

Their meanings remain disputed.

But they all point toward the same presence.

Before the world listened, something was already listening.

And it has been listening long before anyone could listen back.
