25th Hunger Games

"May the odds be ever in your favor." The Capitol says that every Hunger Games, but clearly, the odds aren't in my favor. My name is Sasha Calico. I'm 16 years old and I'm from District 8, the textile District. Every 25 years, there is a Quarter Quell, where the Capitol adds a special change to the Games for that specific year. This year being instead of picking names at random, your district citizens would vote on who they want to send into the Hunger Games. I was voted to compete in the 25th Hunger Games. My district always hated my family. I never knew why. My parents never spoke about it. My younger brother, Maverick, who is eleven, is not old enough for the Games yet. But if he were, they'd probably vote for him too. The worst part is you don't find out you were voted for until the actual reaping, where it's just your name in the bowl. Since I'm from 8, I don't have good chances of winning, but I have faith in myself. Only for my loved ones. Maverick, Hydra, Astrid, and my parents.
