Alex is impossible to ignore - big, loud, and always moving, like sitting still might kill her. She doesn't seem to notice the way a room goes tense when she walks into it. Underneath the noise is something else entirely, and she's not in a hurry to show anyone what that is.
When the facility assigns Alex to "mentor" Echo - really, to get close enough to pry loose her secrets - neither of them expects what happens next. Between shared meals, monitored training, and a threat bigger than either of them could've expected, something starts to grow that the researchers never accounted for.
