Thousands of players entered Aincrad expecting the greatest virtual reality adventure ever created.

Instead, they became prisoners.

With the Log Out button removed and death inside the game meaning death in the real world, the players must climb all 100 floors of the floating castle if they ever want to return home.

Among them is Caelum, a determined swordsman who quickly gains a reputation after risking his life to rescue trapped players and helping defeat the First Floor Boss, Illfang the Ravager.

But Caelum's actions have changed something.

A mysterious player known only as Noctis claims that Caelum is "changing the story"-and hints that someone already knows how Aincrad is supposed to end.

Now, as the survivors enter the Second Floor, Caelum must uncover the truth behind Noctis while facing increasingly dangerous monsters, mysterious players, powerful guilds, and secrets hidden throughout Aincrad.

The original path through the game is beginning to unravel.

The question is no longer whether the players can clear Aincrad.

It's whether Caelum can discover who's rewriting the game before it's too late.
