A pandemic has taken over the world, and caused complete chaos. Hundreds of people have left the cities, and suburban areas to live in little camp settlements - each of which are run by separate rebel leaders. The rebels are fighting against the government, because they are taking away everyone over the age of 60 to put them into internment camps and kill them, to prevent the further spread of the virus. Cellie, a foolish suburban girl, ends up in one of these camps, completely unprepared for what life throws at her.

In a distant dystopian future Jamie and his three friends are trapped in a military internment camp due to the fact that them and many other people like them are not like the rest of the world, but when one of them goes missing, Jamie will do what he must in order to save his friend and lead the others to freedom.
