Under His Command

Detective Addison Kane is the newest addition to Intelligence and from the second she walks through the doors, everyone knows things are about to get a lot louder.

Addie is young, gorgeous, outgoing,. She talks too much, laughs even louder, has a sarcastic comeback for everything, and somehow manages to make even the most serious members of Intelligence crack a smile. Most importantly, she isn't afraid of Hank Voight.

At all.

When Voight gives her the stare, Addie stares right back. When he tells her to stop talking, she usually has one more thing to say. And when he growls, "Kane," from across the bullpen, she'll casually answer, "Yes, sunshine?"

But underneath the jokes and chaotic personality is something nobody expects.

Addie Kane is a secret badass.

She's an exceptional detective with instincts far beyond what her age suggests. She can read a suspect within minutes, stay calm when a case goes sideways, and pick up on details everyone else misses. The first time Intelligence sees what she's truly capable of, even Voight is caught off guard.

At first, Addie simply gets on his nerves. She's too loud. Too sarcastic. Too comfortable challenging him.

Then he starts trusting her.

Then looking for her whenever he enters the bullpen.

Then quietly making sure she gets home safely after difficult cases.

Then noticing when her laugh is missing.

Addie, meanwhile, has no idea what to do with the softer side of Voight that apparently exists only around her. She'll tease him relentlessly, steal his coffee, argue with him during cases, and call him out when nobody else dares.

Somewhere between late-night cases, arguments in Voight's office, sarcastic remarks, dangerous investigations, and Addie slowly becoming part of the Intelligence family, the detective Hank thought would drive him insane becomes the person he can't imagine the unit-or his life-without.

And Intelligence notices way before they do.
