The Chair

Alexis Langford and her best friend Jewel are driving through Missouri's Mark Twain National Forest when a low-tire warning forces them onto the shoulder of a remote road.

That's when Alexis sees the chair.

It sits just beyond the tree line-old, intricately carved, and strangely untouched by the forest surrounding it. There is no house nearby. No campsite. No explanation for why someone would place a chair in the middle of nowhere facing the road, almost as though someone had been sitting there watching passing cars.

Then a woman screams from somewhere deep inside the woods.

Alexis and Jewel know they should leave, find cell service, and call the police. Instead, believing someone may be in terrible danger, they cross the ditch and follow the screams into the forest.

What they find among the trees is horrifying.

They escape alive, but Alexis soon discovers that surviving the forest doesn't mean they escaped what was waiting inside it. The chair isn't simply an abandoned piece of furniture, and what happened that night didn't begin with them.

As Alexis searches for answers, she uncovers missing people, unexplained deaths, and terrifying encounters stretching back years. Different places. Different victims. Different decades.

But the same chair keeps appearing.

And the deeper Alexis digs into its history, the closer she comes to something that has remained hidden for generations-something that now knows exactly who she is.

Some things aren't meant to be found. Some things are waiting to be found.
