Book 1 of 3

"You don't have to pretend you can't feel it, Reed."

My heart slammed against my ribs. He knows.

"Feel what?" The lie came out too quickly. His lips curved, confirming my assumptions.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about."

I clenched my fists. I had to pretend. I had to convince him I didn't feel anything. Because if I admitted it I'd be giving him power.

"You're lucky."

I frowned.

He leaned back against the desk.

"You're lucky because, at this moment, my need for you is overpowering my distaste."

"I need to gain your pack's trust."

My eyebrows pulled together.

"And having one of their own beside me will help me do that."

I laughed at his commands. "I won't do it. Find someone else."

He was inches away from me. Cowering above me, making my whole body feel like it would wilt away.

My breath caught. The mate bond surged through my body so violently that my fingers trembled.

His gaze burned into me so intensely that every instinct in my body screamed at me to run to find some dark corner and hide

"You're forgetting one thing."

I looked back at him back into those deceptive eyes. His voice dropped.

His eyes stayed locked with mine.

"I own you."
