The Southern Hunter

To everyone else, Isaak Lightbringer seems like an average guy. Tall, handsome, bleach-blonde hair, rocking body, tats. To his friends, he's funny, kind, kind of a smart ass, but the best hunter they know. And to the Tampa Institute? He's a problem.

Isaak has never been particularly interested in the rules separating Shadowhunters from mundanes and Downworlders. He's been known to disappear from the Institute for days at a time, showing up at mundane college parties, spending his weekends surfing, and frequenting clubs and bars alongside people the Clave would rather he keep his distance from. He's been arrested more than once for causing trouble with mundane authorities, only to always walk away without a scratch... or a record.

And then there are the rumors.

He has somewhat of a reputation for being a little too fond of getting close to people, regardless of whether they're Shadowhunters, Downworlders, or mundanes. The Institute knows enough to suspect there's more to it, but his aunt, and head of the Tampa Institute, knows that the easiest way to deal with Isaak is to simply pretend she has no clue what he's doing.

After a disastrous hunt leaves three mundanes dead, Isaak is suspended from active duty in the Bay and assigned to a seemingly simple investigation into a string of demonic attacks across the Southeast. But when his investigation brings him to New York City, he finds himself caught between Clary Fray, the New York Institute, and the Circle.

What begins as an unwanted and uneasy alliance quickly becomes something far more when Isaak discovers that the Circle has ties to a tragedy his family has spent the past twenty years trying to forget.

With old enemies resurfacing, family secrets buried beneath two decades of lies, and a certain infuriatingly attractive Lightwood constantly getting under his skin, Isaak is about to discover that some things are much harder in life than killing demons.
