Lexi never expected a new job at a local bar to change her life.
After waiting a month for the opportunity, Lexi finally starts working at the bar alongside her older sister, Dunya. She's quiet, a little guarded, and more comfortable keeping to herself. Between her love for My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil, anime, video games, and spending time in her own world, Lexi isn't exactly looking for anything-or anyone-to shake up her routine.
Then Vanessa walks in.
Confident, beautiful, and completely different from Lexi, Vanessa quickly catches her attention. What starts as simple conversations between coworkers slowly turns into something neither of them expected. But getting closer isn't always easy when both of them have their own lives, secrets, and complications outside of work.
While Vanessa has her own passions, friendships, and struggles, Lexi is dealing with pressures at home that make it difficult to focus on herself. Her mother expects her to contribute financially, even asking for half of Lexi's paycheck, leaving Lexi questioning how long she can keep putting everyone else's needs before her own.
As the two girls begin spending more time together, their friendship starts to blur into something deeper.
Between late-night shifts, music, teasing conversations, family problems, friendships, and feelings neither girl is quite ready to admit, Lexi finds herself facing something she's never really planned for:
falling in love.
And sometimes, the hardest part isn't figuring out how you feel about someone.
It's figuring out whether you're brave enough to let them in.
