For C.H and whoever is reading it I named this book Blue Skies After Midnight for a reason. "Blue skies" : remind me of his blue eyes "after midnight" : reminds me of all the late nights him and i spent together. To everyone else, it's just a title..... To me, it's a memory. Every poem in this book began with him. I started writing because I fell in love with the way words could hold feelings that were sometimes too big to say out loud. Somehow, every thought, every memory, every tiny detail kept becoming about him. This book is for Conner, but maybe it doesn't have to stay only ours. Maybe somewhere between these pages, someone else will find pieces of their own love story. Maybe they'll read a poem and think of the person who makes their heart feel the same way. Because love has a thousand stories-and sometimes, all it takes is a few words to tell one.

Writing is a terrifying act of creation that requires us to push past the fear of being known and bare our souls to others. It gives us a glimpse into our multifaceted lives, both as writers who share their stories and as readers who bring their own unique experiences to what they read. Writing serves as a beautiful connection to each other and our world. This collection of poetry and prose is intended for those of us who feel we have lost our connections and sometimes feel a little less than human because of it.
