"Are you sure, Ms. Grace?" Samuel's voice, low and husky, sends a wave of tingles through my body. I press my legs together, the intensity of the moment almost overwhelming.
His footsteps grow louder as he gets closer, standing right behind my. His hot breath caresses the exposed skin of my neck, as his hand delicately traces the curves of my body. A woodsy, masculine scent envelops me, making my knees go weak.
"You're not hiding anything from me, are you?" His lips brush my ear, his voice dropping to a sensual murmur.
I swallow hard, willing myself to stay composed.
"I'm not," I whisper, my voice barely audible over the pounding of my heart.
He takes a step closer, closing the gap between us, the warmth of his body radiating against my skin.
"There's something you're not telling me," he murmurs, his fingers brushing a loose strand of hair that has fallen on my bare shoulder. The gesture is tender, yet charged with an underlying tension that sends shivers down my spine.
Before I can respond, his hand cups my neck, tilting my face up to expose my sensitive skin. "I will find out Ms. Grace, one way or another and you know that." he says, the threat wrapped in a seductive promise.
Steadying my breathing, I speak through gritted teeth. "I hired you as my detective. I've told you everything there is to know about the case. What more do you want Mr. Steele?"
I feel a slow, almost predatory smile spreading across Samuel's lips, lingering just at the crook of my neck. "Everything," he says simply.
"And I always get what I want."
"Remember, Ms. Grace," he adds before turning and leaving, his voice a dark velvet caress, "I'll be watching."
