UMBRA ACADEMY

There are places in this world that look perfectly ordinary - quiet streets, overgrown gates, buildings that seem to fade when you stare too long - and yet they hold the keys to somewhere else. Somewhere older. Somewhere most people will never know exists.

Millions of young people open their letters every year, reading the names of universities and courses that will shape their future. But once in a great while, another kind of envelope arrives. Black as midnight, sealed in gold, bearing a name you did not know you had - and an invitation no one can explain.

Silas was simply an ordinary boy living a quiet life, until one such letter found him. It called him to the U.M.B.R.A. Academy - a place spoken of only in whispers, where the unseen finally reveals itself. He slowly stepped through the threshold carrying nothing but a name and a gift he never understood he possessed, into a world of spires, factions, and ancient traditions that stretch back further than memory.

But not everyone there believes he belongs.

There are those who say magic is sacred, preserved only in certain bloodlines - that some are born to it, and others are merely stepping where they should never stand. He will meet those who welcome him, and those who look at him and see only something out of place. And among them is a boy whose family has stood at the heart of this world for centuries - proud, sharp, and certain that the old ways are the only ways.

But magic does not always follow the histories people write. It does not care for names or lineages or the things people are taught to believe.

It chooses what it chooses.

And sometimes, it chooses exactly the ones no one expected.
