Jessi is an addict in recovery, and she's trying to build a life outside of the one she used to know. Getting clean was never going to fix everything. She still has to deal with the things that happened to her, the person she used to be, and the constant temptation to fall back into old habits. Her new job gives her something to focus on, but it also brings her into a world she knows very little about. The secrets she learns are only the beginning of problems she never expected to have. And then there's Alex. Alex is cold. She's blunt, she's difficult, and she can be downright cruel to Jessi. She doesn't seem to have much patience for her, yet for some reason, she keeps looking out for her. Jessi doesn't understand her. Alex doesn't understand herself, due to her abusive marriage and the inexplicable pull that Jessi has on her As Jessi tries to stay clean and make something of her life, the two of them become tangled in something neither of them really knows what to do with. But recovery isn't a straight line, and sometimes wanting a better life isn't enough to keep you from slipping back into the old one. 18+ | This story contains heavy themes of addiction and drug use, abuse, implied sexual abuse, age-gap dynamics and sexual content.
