I could feel his presence as he stood before the tree, and before I could even process it, his hands shot up. A wave of energy slammed into me, shoving me forward and sending me crashing to the ground with a loud thud.
Tears brimmed in my eyes from the immense pain exploding through my whole body, yet I still couldn't move because of the strong, defiant energy surrounding me.
His eyes grew even darker, if that was possible, and he took a step toward me, but before his hands could reach me, a glowing strike from a sword slashed him.
A loud gasp escaped my lips as my chest rose and fell rapidly, the energy I'd felt around me vanishing, and I tilted my head up slowly just to see.
