Lila Renolds lives in California and wants to be like everyone else. Everyone around is "perfect" and she feels like she isn't. The only thing that stops Lila from thinking that is by playing soccer. She is so excited for her soccer tournament this weekend. Fifteen minutes into the first game of the tournament, she suddenly runs off the field into the woods. She was so afraid that she would let her team down because the other team was "perfect". Will Lila's thoughts get the best of her or will she overcome it and get back on the field? "Please.." she couldn't say anything more. Her sobs didn't let her. Roman looked at her with an evil smile, not showing any sign of mercy. "I am not letting you run away like you did that night. Trust me, I'll make sure your life is miserable. I want you to feel the same pain as I am feeling right now." He roughly let go of her and Bailey lost control in her legs. Riley's past isn't something most kids go through. Bad things happened, but when she got older, her dad decided it was best to move, and get away from something that seemed to haunt Riley. They moved from Arizona to California. About 1/4 into her junior year, Riley had to go to a new school, and make new friends. She didn't really care about having friends though, as long as she was able to play soccer, she would be okay. Soccer had always been there for her, when her mom died, when she didn't have anyone else, when she was in a bad mood. It was always there for her to play. She didn't need anyone else. That changed when she met Brooke Eckmann. Brooke is also a junior in high school, and is the varsity teams goalie. When they first meet on the field, it was something different. She couldn't stop thinking about her. It was something both of them had never felt before.
