I know the secret now. 

There are creatures that lurk in the shadows of our world. Hidden under darkness, thriving in the night. They are unseen by those of ordinary blood and they aren't always good. In fact, they never are.

We are monsters to their eyes, as they are to us. We may have burned their villages, eaten their livestock, and fought their armies, but both side lose in a battle, even it's not the battle itself. They have infested our earth with their humanity, they have driven their swords through my kinds children, and they have dissected us to cure their greatest flaws. Their mortality.
