A Thousand Silent Words

YN Romanoff-Barnes has spent her entire life believing that questions are dangerous. Raised under General Dreykov's control in the Red Room, YN was taught from a young age that speaking when she wasn't supposed to could have consequences. She knows how to read, write, form sentences, and speak perfectly when a mission requires it-but outside of missions, she rarely says a word. Silence became her shield, eventually making ordinary conversations and social situations almost impossible for her. YN was told only one thing about her parents: her mother escaped and left her behind, while her father was never someone she was meant to know. Dreykov made sure she never asked questions, and YN learned to accept the silence.
Until one mission changes everything: sent into the United States with two other Red Room girls to steal classified S.H.I.E.L.D. reports for Dreykov, YN unknowingly gets closer to the truth about where she came from. Her mother is Natasha Romanoff, who has spent years believing her daughter was lost to the Red Room. Natasha is now dating Maria Hill, while YN's father, Bucky Barnes, is dating Steve Rogers. Neither Natasha nor Bucky knows where YN is, though Bucky has never stopped trying to find his daughter.

Only a handful of people know YN ever existed: Yelena Belova, Natasha's sister; Clint Barton, Natasha's closest friend; Nick Fury; and Bucky, who has spent years searching for the daughter he never got the chance to know. As YN gets closer to discovering the truth, she has to face something she was never prepared for: Maybe the people she was taught to forget never forgot her.
