Between Webs and Wounds

Kenny has learned not to ask for much.

With a father who abandoned her and her younger siblings years ago and a mother who is rarely home, Kenny has grown up learning how to take care of herself; and everyone else around her. Despite everything she's been through, she refuses to let the world make her bitter. She spends her free time volunteering at a local shelter, always finding ways to help people who need someone to care.

At school, Kenny is the girl everyone knows as kind. Gentle. Quiet. The one who always has a smile to give, even when she has every reason not to.

Peter Parker is one of the few people who notices that the smile doesn't always reach her eyes.

Peter has been Kenny's friend for years, but lately, he's starting to realize just how much she's hiding. The missed lunches. The tired eyes. The excuses about why she needs to get home. The way she always worries about everyone else but never seems to let anyone worry about her.

And Peter wants to help.

But between keeping his own secrets, navigating high school, and becoming the person behind the Spider-Man mask, Peter isn't sure how to protect someone who insists she doesn't need saving.

Because Kenny doesn't need a hero.

She just needs someone to remind her that she doesn't have to carry everything alone.
