In a world where nearly everyone is born with a unique power, society divides itself into heroes, villains, vigilantes, and anti-heroes. Aster Danko never dreamed of being any of them, he just wanted to keep his little sister, Lynette, safe from the abuse in their home. When Aster was nine, a strange star-shaped mark appeared on his neck, and a demon claiming to be his true father appeared in the dark. It told him he was the Prince of Hell, destined for a sacred war alongside three blue-flamed soldiers, an angel, and a Son of Sunshine. Fate, it said, doesn't ask permission.
Aster buried the memory... until Lynette died, collateral damage in a hero's battle, and the world simply moved on. Grief hardened into purpose. Aster became a villain, hunting the hero responsible, discovering along the way powers that answer to no registry and taste like ash and old fire.
His path pulls him toward the prophecy made flesh. Kali, his childhood best friend, is now a licensed hero and the Son of Sunshine, though he doesn't know it yet. Ara, a cutely efficient assassin with her own ledger of grudges, sees in Aster not a monster but a role model who never stopped protecting someone, just redirected the instinct into vengeance. And Luke, a nurse raised in his parents' unregistered hospital for villains and vigilantes who can't risk normal ERs, now works for the Crimson Mafia, he meets the villain when Aster tries to steal his wallet, chases him down, and after a brutal short fight, offers him a place among the family instead of a grave. Luke is the prophecy's angel, though healing hardly feels angelic surrounded by blood.
As the sacred war edges closer, Aster is forced to ask whether any version of himself exists outside what the demon promised, or whether Kali, Ara, and Luke are the only proof that he's still more than a prophecy waiting to happen.
