Madelyn Elizabeth Ross had never needed much.

John B had the plans. Pope had the common sense. JJ usually had neither. And Madelyn was always somewhere in the middle of it all.

But on an island divided between those who have everything and those who have nothing, trouble has a way of finding you. And when Madelyn's past comes back to the Outer Banks, home stops feeling like the safest place she knows.
