In this alternate universe, Sensha-dō was never considered an exclusively feminine art.

Instead, a 1939 Ministry of Education decree classified it as a Universal Tactical Discipline-a prestigious co-ed sport designed to teach young people leadership, engineering, teamwork, strategy, and the ability to make impossible decisions under pressure.

As a result, Sensha-dō evolved into something very different.

Gone is the expectation of traditional elegance and femininity. Schools across Japan now treat tank warfare like a high-level competitive sport, with boys and girls fighting side-by-side in armored vehicles ranging from obsolete relics to terrifying late-war machines.

And among those schools stands Oarai Girls' High School-now simply Oarai Public Academy.

After barely surviving the battles that nearly destroyed their Sensha-dō program, Oarai continues to rebuild its tank force. But this time, they gain something they have always desperately needed:

A tank that can take a beating.

Deep within the flooded lower decks of Oarai's academy ship, a group of students discovers an ancient and seemingly useless Churchill Mk. I.

Enter Badger Team (Anaguma Team).

Commanded by Kenji Kurogane, the young heir to one of the largest Sensha-dō families in Japan, Badger Team seems destined for greatness. Kenji knows tanks, tactics, armor thickness, penetration values, and battlefield doctrine better than almost anyone.

There's only one problem.

He's never actually been in a battle.

Surrounded by a rough-and-ready crew recruited from Oarai's Agriculture and Forestry Club, Mathematics and Billiards Club, and even the local fish market, Kenji quickly discovers that knowing how a battle should work is very different from actually having enemy shells bounce off your tank.
