Some secrets don't stay buried. Salem, Massachusetts, is known for its history, its legends, and the stories people tell when the sun goes down. But seventeen-year-old Wren Callahan knows there are some stories the town refuses to tell. Twenty-five years ago, on Halloween night, a teenage girl named Lillian Vale disappeared without a trace. Six girls were the last people known to see her. Today, those six girls are mothers. And their children are best friends. Wren has never questioned her mother's version of what happened that night-until an old photograph appears in her house. Six teenage girls stand together outside an abandoned carnival. Lillian is standing with them. And written across the back are five words: YOUR MOTHER LIED TO YOU. Then the Hollow Man returns. A figure wearing a cracked porcelain mask begins appearing around Salem. He watches from across the street. Leaves photographs in places no one could have entered. Knows secrets nobody should know. And one by one, Wren and her friends become his targets. With her best friends beside her and Cameron Hayes-the boy she's been quietly falling for-refusing to leave her side, Wren begins digging into the night Lillian disappeared. But the deeper they go, the more they realize their mothers weren't innocent witnesses. They were there. They know what happened. And whatever they did twenty-five years ago has finally come back for their children. Because the Hollow Man isn't looking for revenge against the mothers. He's looking for their daughters. And Wren is about to discover why.

... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!
