After my cousin's coronation, my parents, the Duke and Duchess of Alfheim, Malson and Lorelai sent me to Asgard. According to them, it was the perfect place for a girl like me to receive the education expected of someone of my station.
Odin personally placed me in the same class as his own sons, believing that the finest royal education should be shared among those who might one day rule and their loyal warriors.
Fortunately, I was accepted quickly.
There was Fandral, always ready with a joke. Hogun, quiet but observant. Volstagg, who seemed to consider every lesson an interruption to lunch. Sif, who never seemed intimidated by anyone.
And, of course, the two princes Thor and Loki.
It didn't take long to discover that all of us had very different ideas about what proper schooling was supposed to mean.
Lessons were important, apparently.
But sneaking into the training halls, disappearing from tutors, arguing over who was the better fighter, and occasionally convincing Fandral that a perfectly reasonable rule was actually optional?
That was much more interesting.
And, to be completely honest, I found it far too comfortable.
I had arrived in Asgard expecting an education.
I hadn't expected to find a family, or him.
