She waited for 20 years

His hands found her waist and pulled her against him without hesitation.
The world tilted.

Her fingers fisted in his shirt, holding on like letting go would shatter them both.

David kissed her like he'd been starving for it deep, urgent, and claiming.
His mouth moved over hers, and then his tongue swept in, slow and deliberate, tasting her like he'd waited 20 years for this exact moment.
She gasped into the kiss and kissed him back, just as hungry, her breath catching with every second.

When they finally broke apart, both of them were breathing hard.

He looked at her. Really looked.
Her chest was rising and falling, cheeks burning red, lips swollen and parted.

Their eyes locked.
And in that second, reality crashed back in.

Oh god. I just kissed my boss
David.

As kids in Chicago, Victoria and David were best friends. David had a serious illness, so he had to move to China for treatment. Before leaving, 5-year-old David gave Victoria half a heart necklace and promised: "Meet me here in 20 years, Jan 1 at 4 PM."

On the way to the airport he had an accident and lost his memories of her. He grew up to become a CEO and got engaged to someone else.

20 years later, Victoria works at his company with no idea it's his. David doesn't recognize her either, but feels strangely drawn to her. His manipulative fiancé makes things worse and tries to push Victoria out.
