The Coldest Spring

Moving to a new city with the hope of starting anew, Rei had only a few basic but very meaningful things with him. One of which was his beloved bike that he could never throw away. Rei was just around 40 years old when he decided that Tokyo life wasn't for him anymore. Hectic days, too many people, the rhythm of life that was sickening and fast. At one point, this was all he ever wanted, but people change. Nothing stays the same. He knew eventually that the life he had was limited, in any scenario, and as every dream comes to an end, his life in the big city of Tomorrow was now just a past memory for him. Tanabe was the new city he was stepping into. A city far away, with quite, serene atmosphere-and what's better than riding during the spring season? The plum orchards explode into a massive sea of white blossoms that stretch all the way down to the blue Pacific Ocean. The scent of sakura petals that bloom slowly, as if they're shy to not be seen. The earthy smell of the moss and the nearby forests as fresh breath...and a new face brings much more calmness in his life than he ever expected. Is it a gentle lie or something entirely true? What was his past like that made him drive all this way and why does he need this escape? Does the past still lingers like a shadow around him and will he ever find the peace his soul is looking for? One thing is for sure. He doesn't have to pretend anymore, and that's the first step to breath a little bit freer than before.
