For years, the descendants of Pyrrhia's most feared dragons have been imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost-a barren, isolated island where the kingdom's most dangerous dragon families were banished and forgotten.

Among them are four young dragons who have grown up surrounded by the shadows of their parents' legacies.

Mal, a clever and ambitious NightWing, is the daughter of the infamous dragon queen Maleficent.

Evie, a beautiful and fashion-loving RainWing, is the daughter of the Evil Queen.

Jay, a daring and mischievous SandWing/SkyWing hybrid, is the son of Jafar.

And Carlos, an intelligent but anxious IceWing, is the son of Cruella de Vil.

They've spent their entire lives being told that they are destined to become just like their parents.

But everything changes when Prince Ben, heir to the kingdom of Auradon, makes an unexpected decision.

He wants to give the four young dragons a chance to leave the Isle and attend Auradon Academy, where the children of heroes, royalty, and legendary dragons live together in peace.

For Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos, it's the opportunity they've been waiting for.

But they aren't going to Auradon simply to make friends.

They have been given a secret mission: steal the magical wand used by the Fairy Godmother, an ancient artifact powerful enough to break the barrier surrounding the Isle and free their imprisoned parents.
