Spencer has always been the odd ball or the fish out of water. There are times where she defends herself and there are times where she just feels like hiding in a corner. Even when she is forced to "Smile & Wave" at her job, Spencer is actually a depressed teen. For every time something major happens, that she can't deal with or doesn't want to happen and causes her depression to get even worse, Spencer takes a blade and cuts herself. Nobody has ever seen her do it, or noticed signs of her cutting herself. She feels as if nobody gets her or will ever want to actually be there for her when she cries, but.... Ryder Danials. He is the school's "playa" and is a total jerk to Spencer. He is the most popular guy in school and always has a smile on his face but he has troubles that causes him more pain than anything. Troubles that even cause bad boy Ryder Danials to cry in a corner. But you know what they say... In most ways, we're all the same.

They couldn't see how much pain they had caused. They didn't know about the countless times he had cried himself to sleep. His new best friend was the blade. It had helped him go through the hardships he faced. It took away all the emotional pain he was in. He carved himself, hoping someone would take notice, and help him. No matter, how hard he cried out for help, he never received it. Everyone had ignored his cries for help. His parents had turn their backs on him. Why? Because he was an abomination, a disgrace. He didn't live up to his parents' expectations so they turned the other way, and never looked back
