We Are Bulletproof - Jikook

We were only seven.

Seven names strategically chosen. Seven people placed in the same tower, trained to fight, obey, and survive. I only needed to do my job right. That was what I believed. If I was good enough, maybe I could give my parents a life different from the one we had.

I didn't know that some things simply couldn't be earned.

I also didn't know that Jimin would be the person who would finally make me understand that.

At first, I avoided getting close. I was afraid. Jimin had this irritating way of noticing when someone was lying, when they were hurt, when they were trying to pretend everything was fine. The more he tried to get closer, the more reasons I found to pull away.

Then came the training, the nights in the tower, the missions, the little accidents, the conversations neither of us ever finished. And with them came things I didn't know how to name.

Maybe it would have been easier if Jimin had simply stopped.

He never did.

It's so strange to think about that now.

Because we weren't seven soldiers anymore. Not after everything that happened. We were seven people trying to figure out how much of ourselves still existed after every order, every loss, and everything the system decided to take away from us.

It took me a long time to understand that Jimin wasn't trying to make me stronger.

I have to remember to ask him what his real objective was as soon as he opens his eyes to me again.

Now I'm here.

With all my hope held in my hands.

My brothers, my love, my life... in my hands, waiting for my next move.

And even so, all I can look at is his beautiful closed eyes.
A face I swear that I could spend my whole life knowing
