Inspired by "My Daughter" by the lovely @RivenNotcis! Thank you so much for the inspo! Everyone's heard of running away to join the circus, but what about running FROM the circus? Desperate is the word to describe this moment. Absolutely desperate. In a grimy, dark tent, eight monsters waited to be set free. But they can only wait so long. Long enough for the hunger to set in, gnawing at their ribs like a putrid acid. However, among them was an angel. An angel to set them free. But what if you don't want your freedom to come at the cost of someone you love? What if you want everyone to make it out together? Capitano and Aurelia are children born of a cursed species. Disgusting creatures, less than human. That is how they ended up in the care of the Ringmaster. They needed a human to protect them. To feed them. But he didn't hold up his end of the deal, and they all ended up starving, locked away. Until Harlequin had an idea. But this idea was unthinkable. And he carried it out anyway. Aurelia was still unconscious when it all happened. Capitano knew they needed to act fast, so they did. They took off from the circus, with their cousin in their arms, they look for a way to escape. When the time comes, will they be able to come forward about what they've seen? They live their lives blending in with humans, always looking for their next meal. But when the circus comes to town, memories resurface and truths are revealed. Will their friendship survive? Will they? The alternate POV of "The Years Lost (Aurelia's POV)"by @ragingwithyourmom. Her story is Aurelia's pov, mine is Capitano's. We worked on this fic together, so make sure to go check her side of the story out, too!
