I BLEED FOR HIM

I stood at the edge of the stairs, watching the boy I loved fall.
His scream ripped through the house and carved itself into me.

At the bottom, he lay broken. One leg bent wrong.
And in my head, his last words kept playing on loop:
_"I trust you with my life."_

The text was still burning behind my eyes:
_"Push him. Or I kill him. Choose."_
I chose. God help me, I chose.

*A few hours earlier*

Zayn crashed into my room like he always did - loud, careless, mine.
Half his hoodies on my floor. Half my secrets in his mouth.

"Why'd you make me come alone?" he asked, eyes narrowing.

"Because I have a surprise for you," I lied, and my voice didn't even shake.
"You can leave if you don't want it."

"This isn't you, Louis." He stepped closer. "I can feel it. Something's wrong."

"Detective Zayn," I smiled, and it tasted like goodbye.
"Come on. Let me show you."

At the top of the stairs, I stopped. My heart was a traitor in my chest.

"Do you trust me?"

He didn't hesitate. "With my life."

That was the problem.
"I need to blindfold you," I whispered. "For the surprise."

"Forward a little," I said, guiding him. My hands were ice on his back.

"I'm sorry," I breathed.

"For what-"

And I pushed.

I'm running. Clothes shoved in a bag. Blood on my conscience.
But I called 911 first.
Because I'd rather live with this guilt
than live in a world without him in it.
