Vivienne Leila "Viv" Reyes has spent her life learning how to be ambitious without becoming unreachable. A gifted young lawyer in Madrid, she knows exactly where she is going-until an ambitious architect names Elias Alessandro Moretti walks into a conference room and becomes the one complication she never planned for.

Elias has spent just as long proving that the Moretti name is not the reason for his success. As the founder of Moretti Atelier and the eldest son of a powerful Italian family, he understands legacy, responsibility, and expectation better than most. What he does not understand is why Vivienne unsettles every carefully drawn line in his life.

Their attraction begins quietly: a glance across a crowded gala, an unexpected professional partnership, late nights spent arguing over preservation plans, and a closeness neither is willing to acknowledge too soon. But what starts as chemistry becomes something far more demanding.

Across Europe and eventually San Francisco, Viv and Elias are forced to confront everything that comes after wanting someone. Family expectations, former loves, career opportunities, distance, money, faith, independence, and home. The fear of bring absorbed into another person's future-and the equally frightening realization that love sometimes means choosing to build one together.

Elias must learn that loving Viv does not mean solving her life for her. Viv must learn that protecting her independence does not require keeping one foot outside of every door.

Because attraction was never their greatest risk; the real risk is allowing themselves to be fully known, remaining free enough to leave, and still choosing each other anyway.
