In this universe, Michael Jackson never died in 2009. After the *This Is It* rehearsals collapsed under pressure and a quiet health scare, he vanished. No dramatic exit. No body. Just... gone. The world assumed the worst. Conspiracy theories burned for years, then faded.

Fifteen years later, he lives under the name **Daniel Vale** on a private, heavily secured estate in the California hills. He is 67, still striking, still soft-spoken, still carrying every ghost. He rarely leaves the property. Music still happens - private, unfinished, never meant for release.

The story begins when **Elena Voss**, 29, a burned-out former music journalist and ghostwriter with her own complicated relationship to fame, is hired under false pretenses to help "organize the private archives" of a reclusive collector.
