Dear Diary...
My thoughts weigh heavily on me. They darken me a little more every day and slowly take away the little bit of sanity I have left.
They are monsters I cannot hide from, monsters no one can reassure me about. They are not the ones under my bed, nor the ones hiding in my closet.
No, they are very real, and they exist deep within me. And neither the presence of a father nor a mother could ever comfort me.
But this year, I want to change.
I want to be able to say that, for the first time, I am living.
Without being afraid of what my mind might whisper in my ear, without being afraid that someone might come back... only to completely destroy me.
This year, I want to heal.
So, dear Diary,
tonight, I make a wish that a butterfly will land on my nose...
...and decide to change everything.
For better... or for worse.
