A World Apart

Sarai Kioni Mercer, 22, is a Jamaican university student studying Hospitality and Tourism Management, with ambitions that extend far beyond the life she has always known. Independent and determined, she embraces the opportunity to experience a world completely different from her own, unaware of how much the unfamiliar will come to mean to her.

Jorian Mazar Dervishi, 27, is an Black American-Albanian architect born and raised in Tirana. Having completed Albania's five-year integrated architecture program, he has since built a successful career restoring and designing some of the city's most remarkable spaces. Confident, disciplined, and deeply connected to his culture, his family, career, and ambitions are firmly rooted in Albania, leaving him with little reason to question where he belongs.

When their worlds unexpectedly collide, neither Sarai nor Jorian anticipates the impact they will have on each other. As their lives become increasingly intertwined, they are forced to confront feelings, expectations, and circumstances neither of them could have anticipated.
