The Ghost of My Last Life

There are some things the heart remembers long after the mind has forgotten.

In the quiet unease of her modern life, a young woman finds herself haunted by a past she cannot explain. She carries an inexplicable fear of abandonment, an instinctive distrust of happiness, and the peculiar sensation that certain moments have already happened to her. Doctors might call it anxiety. Her mother might call it imagination. But there are memories within her that seem to belong to someone else.

Someone named Eliza.

In another century, beneath the grey skies and green countryside of Victorian England, Eliza is a young woman born into privilege and confined by it. Her family expects obedience, marriage and decorum; Eliza longs instead for poetry, freedom and the dangerous, consuming love she has encountered only in books.

Then, at a glittering London ball, she meets a man whose gaze unsettles something deep within her. What begins as an attraction becomes an all-consuming attachment, and Eliza soon finds herself caught between the life she has been instructed to live and the love she believes she was born to find.

But some passions demand more than devotion.

They demand sacrifice.

And when a love powerful enough to survive death leaves its mark upon the soul, the consequences do not necessarily end with the life in which they began.

Moving between two lives and two centuries, *The Ghost of My Last Life* is a story of forbidden love, obsession, memory and the strange inheritance of the heart-a meditation on whether the people we lose truly leave us, or whether some ghosts simply wait for us to find them again.
